Bae Yun Jun surprisingly beat the fourth seed from India, Saina Nehwal

Korean women's singles player Bae Yun Jun surprisingly beat the fourth seed from India, Saina Nehwal in the 2011 China Open Premier Super Series, in Shanghai, China, Wednesday, November 23.

A match that lasted more than an hour was successfully won by Bae Yun Jun that   at this Premier Li Ning China Open Super Series is non seeded status. This victory was achieved through three games, 15-21 24-22 21-15.

In the first set, it appears Saina Nehwal, who in recent times lost the match showed his class as the women's singles world ranking of fourth. Saina Nehwal took the first game easily, 21-15.

Entering the second set, Bae Yun Jun began to fight back by dominating the game at the net mouth. Several times Saina Nehwal could not anticipate opponent’s netting to catch rates in it was inevitable. Almost all of this second round, both players take turns to outperform each other. Bae Yun Jun touch the ending point first, but Saina Nehwal rewarded with three points in a row and only requires one point to finish it game up.

Unfortunately due to careless, Bae Yun Jun force the deuce twice and finally managed to add 3 consecutive point until the final position in the second game 24-22.

In the decider game, Bae Yun Jun play confused badminton and the score up to 12-15. But at this point precisely she control the game in and raced with 9 consecutive point without giving any one additional point for Saina Nehwal.

This defeat to defeat the worst in comparison with the four that followed Saina Nehwal turnement ranging from Yonex Japan Open, Denmark Open Yonex, Yonex Badminton French Open, and the Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open 2011.

Saina Nehwal crashed out earlier at Indian Open Super Series

Top seeded Saina Nehwal has the weight of a nation on her shoulders for the second year running, after her Commonwealth success. But there were ups and downs for locals in Delhi for the kick-off of the main draw in the India Open in Delhi.

The first ever Super Series held in Delhi, the Yonex Sunrise India Open Badminton Championships such as a terrible tournament for her. The top seed Saina Nehwal playing well having won the Swiss Open GP gold recently, crashed out 17-21, 19-21 to Japan’s Ai Goto in the women's singles first round at the Siri Fort Sports Complex on Wednesday Apr 27.

Saina said, "It was not my day. She was playing so well. I could not read her game. She was good at the net and with half court smashes. She was getting it right with every stroke."

“She caught me by surprise with her strong play. She retrieved everything I sent to her and she kept the shuttle low. She also was strong in her smashes which I didn’t expect,” Saina told local press.

The 21-year-old from India has been troubled by an ankle injury for the past few months. Saina also looked completely under-perform against her determined opponent.

“The [ankle] injury is not an excuse as I have been training and playing with it before. I just couldn’t find the answers to her play and I made too mistakes.”

This results went as more or less expected. With Saina’s defeat, this tournament came to an abrupt end as the other five local: Sayali Gokhale, Trupti Murgunde and the rising junior badminton star all made it to the main draw by winning both their qualifying round matches have also crashed out.

Saina wins first title of the WILSON Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold

Saina Nehwal, the Commonwealth Games champion, bounced back from her YONEX All England Open quarter-final defeat. Saina Nehwal of India completed win the WILSON Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold that was held at st. Jacobshalle, from March 15th - 20th.

Saina Nehwal who captured five titles, including three Superseries crowns last year, denied Sung Ji Hyun her first international title.

The final day of the Swiss Open started at noon with women´s doubles between two Korean pairs Ha Jung Eun / Kim Min Jung and Jung Kyung Eun / Kim Ha Na. The second match – the women´s singles final – had a very good atmosphere. 

Before entering final, she was stretched to three games by another South Korea’s Bae Youn Joo in the semi-final. Saina Nehwal, who won consecutive titles in India, Singapore and Indonesia – the former being a Grand Prix event – last year attracted a lot of Indian Swiss spectators. Saina obviously had more power and energy.

Saina Nehwal played true to her class, to crush yhe opponent in a 43 minute final encounter a title. Saina's excellently taken 21-17, 21-13 win over South Korea’s Sung Ji Hyun, the unseeded in this tournament.
